Dillian Whyte marks ring return with points win over Mariusz Wach – Brixton fighter admits he was below-par

Dillian Whyte admitted he was not at his best as he made his ring return with a unanimous points win over Mariusz Wach in Dirayh, Saudi Arabia.

The Brixton heavyweight saw UKAD withdraw their anti-doping allegation earlier this week.

Whyte had not fought since June when he outpointed Oscar Rivas at Greenwich’s 02.

But the South Londoner was a late addition to the undercard for the Andy Ruiz Jr-Anthony Joshua rematch.

Whyte won by scores of 97-93 (twice) and 98-93.

The 31-year-old moved his record to 27 wins – his only reverse to Joshua early in his career.

“I boxed nowhere near my standard but it has been tough for six months – people have been screwing me left, right and centre,” said Whyte.

“I took the fight at three weeks notice and came in a stone and a half overweight.

“He [Wach] is tough.

“Sorry guys that I didn’t get the knockout but it feels great to get to fight, considering where I was two or three months ago. I was in a dark place, I thought about walking away [from the sport].”
