Lee Bowyer provides Charlton injury round-up as Jonathan Leko is ruled out for the season

BY LOUIS MENDEZ

West Bromwich Albion loanee Jonathan Leko’s time at Charlton is over after he suffered an ACL injury.

The forward, who was due to spend the entire season at The Valley, limped out of the draw with QPR on Saturday.

Addicks boss Lee Bowyer revealed the bad news as he gave a round-up on the injury crisis at The Valley following the 3-2 win over Bristol City on Boxing Day.

“Jonathan Leko is out for the season,” said Bowyer.

“He’s done his ACL. He’s out.”

“It’s just a knock,” added Bowyer when asked about Conor Gallagher, who was withdrawn during the Bristol City game.

“He tried to run it off but he couldn’t. So, he had to come off. It’s on his hip I think, it looked like his hip. He was struggling before the game. His glute and hip area was not good. He hasn’t trained since the last game.

“Today, he had a fitness test and got through the fitness test. There is no one else. I keep saying it but it is the fact. There is no one else to play.

“[Tomer Hemed] is outdoors, running. We have to get him to a certain level before we chuck him out there otherwise he’ll break down again. He didn’t come to us in the best of shape in the summer and we have to work hard with him to get him back to a certain level to get him involved with us.

“But the good thing is that he, Jonny Williams, Chuks Aneke and Lewis Page are all outside and running again.”
