Joe Ledley not ruling out Wales swansong at Euro 2020 – but he needs more game time than brief Charlton stay

Joe Ledley is not ruling out playing some part for Wales at this summer’s European Championships – but admits he needs more game time than he enjoyed at Charlton Athletic.

The Addicks signed the former Crystal Palace midfielder, 32, on a month-long deal but he made just one appearance.

Bowyer had confirmed to the South London Press recently that Ledley would be moving on and his stay ended after last week’s 1-0 loss at Swansea City.

Ledley told BBC Sport Wales: “There are options, but I’d like to be closer to home. I’ve been away – only for a month – and family comes first for me now.

“Everyone’s moved back to Cardiff for the first time in nine or 10 years so closer to home would be perfect, but for me it’s coming up to the final year so I need to play as many games as I can.

“I’ll never rule it out [playing for Wales] and I’m sure the manager won’t either but it’s down to me now to find a club and play as many games as I can. My boy is two, he’s into his football and he wants to watch me play for my country and at a club as well.”
