Wimbledon Beaumont care home presents cheque to Age UK Merton after fair

A care home has donated money to a pensioners’ charity after donations were taken at its fair.

Wimbledon Beaumont care community in Wimbledon recently presented Age UK Merton with a cheque for £178 from raffle ticket sales.

The care home welcomed Clare Gummett, from Age UK Merton, for an afternoon tea party to accept the cheque on behalf of the charity.

Ms Gummett said “we really appreciate the residents, families and staff at Wimbledon Beaumont supporting Age UK Merton.

“We rely on donations to fund all the work we do for the community in Merton.

“Our goal is to enable people in the borough to Love Later Life and change it for the better”.

Age UK Merton in Mitcham runs an out and about programme, information and advice, a befriending service, plus a range of practical services for people who are over 50.

Wimbledon Beaumont has held events and activities for residents and surrounding neighbours.

Gayane Selimyan, general manager at Wimbledon Beaumont, said: “We are always keen to show as much support as we can to local charities.

“Supporting Age UK Merton means we are helping to make a difference to older people in Merton”.

Wimbledon Beaumont care community, run by Barchester Healthcare, provides residential care and nursing care for 46 residents from respite care to long-term stays.
