Mason Bennett not available to face parent club Derby – but Lions boss Gary Rowett pleased with attacker’s contribution

Gary Rowett admits it is shame that Mason Bennett cannot be involved in Millwall’s home fixture against Derby County on Saturday.
The Rams attacker is not eligible to face his parent club as part of the loan agreement between the two sides.
Bennett joined the Lions in January and has gradually built up his game time. He impressed in last week’s 3-0 victory at Nottingham Forest.
“In one sense it is a shame because he has played really well against Forest,” said Lions manager Rowett. “Mase showed where his fitness is at that he couldn’t quite manage to get through the whole of the game.
“We knew and understood that when we took him. But he has also shown glimpses in three out of the four games of what he has got and what he can bring to the table.
“The pleasing aspect after Forest is that he has now shown he can play a central striker role – either behind the main striker or as the main striker – but I can see him playing all the roles of a left-sided forward. He’s really versatile and brings something different than what we’ve got.
“Unfortunately he’s going to miss the weekend but luckily we have another game on Tuesday, so he’s not going to have to wait too long to be back involved.
“We’ll do some extra conditioning work over the weekend and see if we can continue to improve his ability to maintain that explosive pace in matches.”
