Food & Drink: Get it delivered

BY PALOMA

Restaurants and cafes may have been ordered to close but so many of them have restructured their business models and continue to serve the community as grocery stores.

Popular neighbourhood restaurant Hood is now open five days a week, operating with a skeleton staff, most have been furloughed, and offering a takeaway/delivery service on a paired down menu and grocery offering.

Open Tuesday – Saturday 9.30am to 2.30pm – there are meals, ready to reheat at home and something of an old fashioned shop set up, selling fruit and veg, flour, pasta and other store cupboard ingredients.

Just two people are allowed in at a time, with hand sanitiser offered at the door, and queuing at a distance outside the shop encouraged, so health and safety standards are being maintained.

The menu changes daily and at the time of writing, it included jerk chicken pie – £11 for two, mac ‘n’ cheese for one (£7) and salted caramel chocolate pot for one a bargain £3.

One thing that doesn’t change is the daily deal on wine and beer – buy six and get a 10 per cent discount.
