Appeal for information following Shepherds Bush fatal shooting
Detectives investigating a fatal shooting on Askew Road, Shepherds Bush are appealing for witnesses and information.
Police were called at approximately 00:40hrs on Monday, 8 June to reports of man suffering gunshot injuries in Askew Road, W12.
Officers, London Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance attended. Despite the efforts of the emergency services, the man, aged in his 20s was pronounced dead at the scene at 01:26hrs.
The man’s next of kin have been informed and formal identification awaits. A post mortem will take place on Tuesday, 9 June at Fulham Mortuary.
Police are appealing for anyone who was in the area of Askew Road, W12 after midnight on Monday, 8 June and saw anything suspicious, to get in contact.
Officers are particularly keen to hear from anyone who saw a white Range Rover in the area. The car was found burnt out in Ascott Avenue, W5 at 01:05hrs, just 25 minutes after the original call to police was made.
Detective Chief Inspector Wayne Jolley, of the Met’s Specialist Crime command who leads the investigation said: “I am urging anyone who witnessed what happened or who holds information regarding the white Range Rover to come forward. A young man has been brutally murdered in the street and his family and friends deserve to know what has happened.
His family are truly devastated and ask that their privacy is respected while they come to terms with their loss.”
Central West Borough Commander, Helen Harper, said: “This is a tragic incident and my thoughts are with the young man’s family and friends.
“In response to this, there will be increased patrols in the area and officers will be happy to talk to anyone who has concerns.
“I wish to reassure the public that police are working round the clock to find those responsible for this. Please do get in touch if you saw or know what happened, no matter how small you feel it may be, it could be the piece that officers need.”
