More than 90 elderly people arrived at Coin Street neighbourhood centre for its annual Young at Heart party
Guests were treated to photos and fizz on arrival, before they enjoyed a tasty two-course meal. Food was served by a team of volunteers coming from the local community, the London school of Economics and Coin Street staff.
After dinner, DJ Smooth kicked off the evening’s entertainment with the chance to win amazing prizes. The prizes were well received and included:
A meal for 2 with a bottle of wine donated by Mulberry Bush, two full platters donated by Nandos in Stamford street, a £50 gift voucher donated by PizzaExpress, three-tier steamer donated by ITV, a toaster donated by ITV, a deluxe heated blanket donated by ITV, a hamper donated by wedge house Kier team, a gift voucher donated by Sainsbury’s local in Waterloo Road, two VIP audience tickets to Loose Women at ITV Studios, two young at Heart Boat party tickets and a bouquet of flowers donated by Cut Flowers. Singer for the evening, Deleelah, took to the stage to serenade with a catalogue of hits, while the visitors danced the night away.
Special thanks go to Eden catering, the Oxo Tower restaurant, Studio 6 (Gabriel’s Wharf), DJ Smooth C, Deleelah – Singer, Funky Feet Photography, LSE Volunteers, Community volunteers and Colombo Staff.
The next seniors’ party will be the ‘Young at Heart boat party’ on Thursday, August 9.
