Charlton duo both facing race to be fit for Leeds United match
Jake Forster-Caskey and Sam Field are both facing a race to be fit for Charlton’s crunch clash at Leeds United on Wednesday.
Addicks boss Lee Bowyer expects Josh Cullen to recover from the knock he sustained in Saturday’s 2-2 draw with Wigan.
The on-loan West Ham midfielder needed treatment but stayed on. He has played every minute for the South Londoners since the campaign restarted following lockdown.
Field was replaced by Albie Morgan at the break with Forster-Caskey also making way at the interval for Jonny Williams.
“Jake has got a tight groin and Sam Field just took a whack on his hip,” said Bowyer.
“I think Josh will be fine. He got whacked in a big tackle. The others [Forster-Caskey and Field] will be touch and go.
“There is just no recovery. From Wednesday’s game until the pre-match warm-up the players didn’t kick a ball – because you have got to give them some chance to recover.
“The recovery time is crazy. It’s ridiculous for that to happen, for them [matches] to be so close together.”
Darren Pratley did some gentle jogging before the Wigan man but Bowyer has ruled the veteran midfielder out of featuring after he pulled his hamstring in last Wednesday’s 1-1 draw at Birmingham.
“He’s got no chance. It’s just running in the early stages – to get the blood flowing back through that muscle.”
