Go-ahead given to outdoor theatre production in Sydenham

An outdoor theatre production has been given the green light to bring a much loved fairytale character to the stage.

Puss in Boots, adapted for the stage from the classic fairytale will take place in Mayow Park, Sydenham, running for eight days from August 15.

The 30 minute show is suitable for all ages and will transport audiences to medieval Spain, where the amazing story of the swashbuckling Puss in Boots and his would-be knight master Mick the Miller’s Son will unfold.

Setting off on a mission to rescue the Princess Esperanza from a villainous bandit king, expect comedy chases, amazing dance routines and songs and incredible sword-fights.

The cast features a mixture of actors with pantomime and stage experience from the Spontaneous production company who reinvent classic tales with a modern twist for young audiences.

Last year the company performed Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland at the same venue.

Jimand Allotey will play Puss in Boots, William Hastings is the excitable Dame Wendy Miller, Kluane Saunders is the narrator and Princess Esperanzam, Paul-D Stephenson is the villainous Bandit King and newcomer James Jack Bentham will play Mick the Miller’s Son.

The company says they will be strictly adhering to Government guidelines on social distancing and volunteer stewards will be on hand to ensure entry to the venue is safe.
