Anger over Clapham Common partygoers defecating in area when they get caught short

Residents of one of South London’s most idyllic neighbourhoods have been plagued by the woke warriors getting caught short at nearby illegal events.

Residents in Windmill Drive on Clapham Common have been complaining about defecations being left by park partygoers at illegal knees-ups nearby.

And it seems that these days, if you want to live like common people, you do not do whatever Common people do.

One resident, Lou Muscat, a child psychiatrist, has put up signs pointing to loos by the children’s playground and the skateboard park in nearby Rockery Road.

“We are worried the parties are becoming regular,” he said. “Someone will rock up on a Saturday evening with a couple of decks and soon there’s a party.

“It goes on to the early hours of the morning. The vast majority of night time revellers are not respecting us or our homes.

“Some portable toilets were provided and some daytime security, but neither have made a dent in this problem.”

A council spokesman said: “There are currently no licensed events taking place at Clapham Common due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.

“We have, however, experienced an increase in unlicensed music events since the easing of lockdown began, a trend which has been seen across London and the entire country.

“We share residents’ frustration at these events, and have publicly appealed for people to maintain social distancing, avoid these public gatherings and help stop the spread of the virus.

“We will continue to work with our communities in support of these goals.

“Our public protection officers have been proactively tackling unlicensed music events in partnership with the police, working around the clock, and have dealt with dozens of calls from residents.

“Any information residents can provide us is essential in tackling the issue.”
