Millwall boss not ruling on-loan Tottenham striker out of Stoke City fixture
Gary Rowett is not ruling Troy Parrott out of featuring in Millwall’s Championship opener against Stoke City this weekend.
The on-loan Tottenham striker suffered a quad injury in the recent friendly win at Southend United and has sat out their last two matches.
Rowett thought the Republic of Ireland international would be missing for around three weeks.
Parrott was not involved in Saturday’s EFL Cup win at Crawley Town or last Tuesday’s home friendly against Millwall. He had been called up by his country for UEFA Nations League matches but had to withdraw due to his muscle niggle.
But the Lions manager told the South London Press that Parrott was making “really good progress”.
“Whether Stoke is a game too soon then we’ll probably know later in the week,” said Rowett.
Millwall have injury doubts over right-back Mahlon Romeo while midfielder Ryan Woods cannot feature against his parent club.
Billy Mitchell (knee) will be missing for a number of weeks.
“It’s going to be difficult for Mahlon to be fit for the weekend,” said Rowett.
“He might train the end of this week and then it’s about assessing how far away from fitness he is.
“Frank Fielding is back in light training, which is quite nice to see. Hopefully he can progress quite quickly.”
