Crystal Palace working on deal for Brentford star attacker Said Benrahma

Crystal Palace are keen on plucking another of the top attackers out of the Championship – as they work on a deal for Brentford attacker Said Benrahma.

The Eagles have already signed QPR playmaker Eberechi Eze in a transfer that could eventually cost £20million.

And now they want Benrahma, who is likely to cost more than that.

Brentford have already sold Ollie Watkins, who has previously attracted interest from Palace, to Aston Villa for an initial fee of £28m.

And despite that huge cash injection last season’s beaten play-off finalists are also expecting to strike a deal for Benrahma to go as well.

He was not involved in Saturday’s 1-0 loss to Birmingham City but reports elsewhere state the the Algerian, 25, has trained with the west London club today.

“If the price is right for [Benrahma] we’re open because that’s the way the club operates,” Bees head coach Thomas Frank told football.london before the weekend.

Benrahma’s value has rocketed since Brentford paid a small sum to OGC Nice in July 2018.

He has scored 27 goals and provided 24 assists in 81 Championship matches and is comfortable playing anywhere across the front line but is usually deployed down one of the flanks.

Benrahma has been capped three times at senior level by his country.
