Hercules Wimbledon AC round-up: PBs aplenty in productive weekend of action

Charlie Eastaugh was the best of 25 runners from the club in action in the Herc Wimbo Distance Big Night Out meeting at Wimbledon Park Athletics Stadium on Wednesday of last week.

In his first race over the distance this year, Eastaugh was the fastest of the 49 runners in five 1,500m race in 3:54.58 seconds.

Eastaugh was also just outside his PB of 3:53.77 set at the British Milers’ Club’s Grand Prix meeting at Sutcliffe Park, Eltham in June 2019, the last time he raced over the distance.

Ten Hercules Wimbledon runners posted PBs. Their second fastest competitor was Howell Harrod (4:00.43).

Georgie Clarke finished ninth in her race in 4:46.63. Teenager Lulu Weisz clocked a season’s best of 4:57.70. Another teenager, Albane Fery clocked a PB of 5:02.95.

Grace Eminson, Ariana Shala, Sophie Conway, Miona Ivanovic, Matt Weisz, Eliose Davies and Chris Clarke also all clocked PBs.

Fred Slemeck was the best of the 10 Hercules runners in the 3,000m races. He clocked 8:42.95, slightly faster than Jonny Cornish (8:46.39).

Ed Mallett was among a quartet of the club’s runners to post lifetime bests. He clocked 8:51.94 – finishing just two places ahead of club-mate Joe Toomey who also clocked a PB of 8:56.22.

Rhys Boorman also got inside nine minutes (8:58.34). Hector Revill won the first of the seven races.

Revill, who recently ran 31 consecutive half-marathons to raise almost £2,500 for Antibiotic Research UK, also clocked a lifetime best for 800m at the South London Athletics Network Open Meeting at Tooting Bec on Saturday.

He won his race in 2:11.10 to shave more than a second off his PB.

Thomas Whorton, 10, won his 800m race in 2:31.96.. Other winners were Albane Fery (1,500m) Bailey O’Leary (800m), Andrew Davies (1,500m) and Emily Dunipace (800m), the latter clockin a PB of 2:48.66.

Ariana Shala (800m), Ava McCandle (1,500m), Cliona O’Brien (1,500m), Martha Eminson (800m), Charlotte Gurney (800m) and Josie Hughes (800m) also posted lifetime best times.
