‘A lot of learning’ – Jason Pearce on stint as Charlton interim boss
Jason Pearce has addmited he has taken a “lot of learning” from his spell as Charlton Athletic interim boss.
The former captain and centre-back was placed in short-term charge after Dean Holden was sacked following the 2-1 defeat at Oxford.
Pearce claimed a 2-1 win against Fleetwood on Saturday at The Valley but fell to a 4-3 defeat to League Two Crawley in Charlton’s opening EFL Trophy game on Tuesday evening.
Our paper understands that the Addicks look set to appoint their new head coach before the end of the week.
“It’s been a really good experience,” said Pearce.
“For myself, coming in, I have aspirations to become a manager.
“Not right now, but it was a nice experience and I appreciate having been given the opportunity by the football club.
“I’m pleased I could help the club to pick up three points in the league on Saturday. I’m disappointed I couldn’t have helped the club tonight.
“I’ll take a lot of learning from this experience and I know I’ll be better.
“In the future, I would love to be manager of this football club.”
