AFC Wimbledon striker Ollie Palmer set for Wrexham transfer

AFC Wimbledon striker Ollie Palmer is set to sign for Wrexham.

The big-spending National League outfit – bankrolled by Hollywood actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney – have made the 30-year-old their top attacking target this window.

It is believed that the Dons will receive in excess of £300,000 for their number nine, who joined in the summer of 2020 after his contract had expired at Crawley Town.

And Wrexham are also ready to majorly bump up Palmer’s wages. He has scored 13 goals in 52 appearances for Wimbledon, with eight of those coming this season in 25 outings.

Footage has emerged this afternoon of Palmer arriving at the Racecourse Ground to complete his switch.

Dons head coach Mark Robinson told our paper at the start of this month that he wanted to keep hold of the experienced forward. He said: “Ollie is certainly not someone that I want to lose – 100 per cent.”

Wrexham are sixth in the table after a 2-1 win at Yeovil at the weekend. They are at home to Grimsby Town tomorrow night.
