Battersea Arts Centre hosts the Great Taste Golden Fork Awards 2023
Battersea Arts Centre played host to the Great Taste Golden Fork Awards 2023 on September 11.
Great Taste 2023, the largest and most trusted food and drink accreditation scheme in the world, has come to a glittering finale with its Golden Forks ceremony drawing a star-studded gathering of chefs, buyers, industry experts, producers and influencers testing more than 14,000 products.
Roussas Dairy, based in Attica, Greece, was crowned this year’s Great Taste Supreme Champion for its Roussas Galotyri PDO, a soft Greek cheese made from sheep and goats’ milk.
Louise Allen, buyer from Whole Foods Market, judged the Roussas Galotyri PDO during the Great Taste 3-star final panel process and said: “This cheese was beautifully light and creamy.
It’s so versatile – even simply spread on toast it would be absolutely delicious.” Roussas Galotyri PDO was among 16 top-scoring products in the running for the 2023 Great Taste Supreme Champion.
Thirteen other Great Taste Golden Fork trophies were also awarded on the night, including London-based Belazu Ingredient Company for its Sour Cherry Molasses.
In 2023, 14,195 different products were entered from 109 countries. In all 4,088 (28.8 per cent of entries) were awarded a Great Taste 1-star – ‘food and drink that delivers fantastic flavour’.
A further 1,568 (11 per cent of entries) were awarded a Great Taste 2-star – ‘above and beyond delicious’, and 248 (1.8 per cent of entries) were awarded a Great Taste 3-star – ‘extraordinarily tasty food and drink.’
Every Great Taste award has a validity of three years, ie a Great Taste 2023 award will be valid, and may be displayed on a product, until the results are released for Great Taste 2026.
All awards must always be displayed against the exact product for which they have been won.
