Ben Amos extends Charlton Athletic contract

Ben Amos has extended his Charlton contract until the end of next season.

The 30-year-old signed on a free transfer in the summer of 2019 following his release by Bolton Wanderers.

Amos clocked up 46 matches in League One for the Addicks in the 2017-18 campaign.

His performances led to Millwall also opting to take him on loan but he featured just 15 times in the following season.

Amos returned to SE7 following Charlton’s promotion to the Championship but made just one appearance – in the EFL Cup – as number one Dillon Phillips won the club’s Player of the Year award.

Addicks manager Lee Bowyer said: “Ben has a lot of experience, especially in this division.

“We have two very good goalies in him and Dillon fighting it out. He’s been good around the place and excellent with the younger lads, so I’m delighted that he’s staying on.”

Director of football Steve Gallen added: “I’m delighted Ben has decided to stay on, he’s a good goalkeeper. Unfortunately he didn’t play much last season but he was superb in training and around the changing room every day.

“We all know how good he is from when he played for us in League One in 2017-18. We’re very pleased he’ll be with us next season.”
