Ben Thompson signs for Gillingham….just hours after Millwall contract is terminated

Ben Thompson has signed for Gillingham – just hours after having his Millwall contract terminated by mutual consent.

The 26-year-old midfielder is reunited with former Lions manager Neil Harris, who was appointed the Kent club’s new boss earlier today.

Thompson said: “I’m over the moon – obviously with Neil coming in as manager it was a no brainer in the end. I am buzzing to be here.

“I jumped at the opportunity and hopefully we can have some good times at the club. Hopefully I can add some goals, I’m raring to go and it’s a challenge to get out of the bottom four and get up the league.”

Harris said: “It’s about building now and adding positivity into the group. The fans want to come and see the players have a go. They want to be entertained – that’s my goal.”
