Big turnout from 21 schools for Lewisham Primary School Gala
More than 250 swimmers from 21 of the borough’s primary schools arrived at Glass Mill Leisure Centre to compete in this year’s Lewisham Primary School Gala on Friday.
The event was organised by Saxon Crown Swimming Club, supported by Lewisham Council and GLL, who provided pool space and staff free of charge.
Saxon Crown wishes to thank all school swimmers, their teachers and parents who helped make it such an exciting afternoon of swimming.
All swimmers and teams gave excellent accounts of themselves, not just in their swimming performance but the support they gave their team-mates and sportingly, their applause for children from other school teams.
Gold, silver and bronze medals were awarded to those who placed first, second and third places in each individual event.
Best girl trophies were presented to Lyla Gibb from St Dunstan’s (Year 5) and Ruth Allen of St William of York (Year 6) and best boy trophies went to Lenny Lewis of Kelvin Grove (Year 5) and Jake Lovell of Brindishe Manor (Year 6).
In the best school category, third place went to St Bartholomew’s and second to Gordonbrock, who also won both relay events. Congratulations to St Dunstan’s who came top and won the Shield for best school.
