Blackheath High School returns to face-to-face open day
A high school makes its return to the in-person open day format on Saturday September 25 between 09.00 and 13.00.
The open day at Blackheath High School will once again welcome prospective students and their families through the school gates to trial its facilities, after a virtual event last year.
There will be three separate sessions covering the Junior School, Senior School and Sixth Form for girls aged three to eighteen.
All interested students and their families will get a guided tour of the school from a student ambassador, where they will be given insight into the curriculum, clubs and co-curricular activities the school has to offer.
Prospective Sixth Form students will be introduced to Blackheath High’s Wollstonecraft Speaker programme, a series of co-curricular lectures delivered by external speakers to inspire students.
They will also be able to attend a Sixth Form Virtual Open Evening with a Live Q&A Panel Event on Wednesday 29 September between 18.00 – 19.00, providing an opportunity to learn more about the Sixth Form directly from current Sixth Form students and the Sixth Form Leadership Team.
This year the Junior School will introduce its new activity-based Mighty Girls Challenge programme during the open morning session.
Designed to support the girls in becoming ambitious, brave and curious the programme has been curated to closely tie to the key skills the World Economic Forum predicts will be central to future employment.
Those looking to join the Senior School will have a chance to tour the new £18m state-of-the-art Senior School facility containing a Macsuite, speciality Art, Music and D&Tech studios, new and enlarged sport facilities and new outdoor spaces to relax.
Carol Chandler-Thompson, Head at Blackheath High School, said: “We couldn’t be happier to welcome prospective students and their families back through our gates this year and meet some of our future pupils face-to-face.
“The school’s natural buzzy atmosphere is back in full swing and to truly get a feel for it, you have to be there.
Our ethos is geared towards achieving academic success, whilst also nurturing our girls’ passions and giving them the essential skills to be bold and ambitious. We’re excited to showcase just how we achieve this.”
