Blackheath named as fourth best farmers market in the UK
New research has revealed the UK’s best farmers markets, and Blackheath has been ranked in the top 10.
The recipie box provider Hello Fresh analysed 30 farmers markets across the UK by looking at factors including how often they occur each month, how long the markets last, the number of trade stalls and online ratings to find the top 20 markets.
It has been revealed that Blackheath has been named the fourth best farmers market in the UK, with a notable score for its number of traders and the hours it runs for.
Spring will be the best time to enjoy these markets, for the freshest produce, with farmers and horticulturists gathering in their local area to sell their finest stock.
The ‘locavore trend’, someone who only eats produce that has been sourced locally, has become popular in the UK, with searches for the trend increasing 21 per cent in the last year.
Similarly, #locavore, #farmersmarket and #farmersmarketuk receives 8.5 million, 380.8 million and 10.7 thousand views a month on TikTok respectively, which means more of the younger generation are enjoying farmers markets.
Mimi Morley, senior chef at HelloFresh, said: “Typically, farmers markets sell a huge variety of meats, fruit and vegetables.
“This is because it’s fresh produce grown and nurtured in the UK and picked by the highest quality producers before heading to the market.”
