Brighton set to complete deal for Charlton Athletic keeper James Beadle
Brighton are set to sign Charlton goalkeeping prospect James Beadle.
The Seagulls were always in pole position to land the 17-year-old despite Chelsea also being linked.
Charlton pulled out all the stops to try and convince Beadle to stay and sign a professional deal.
The Addicks have had significant success keeping hold of their prize assets in recent months with Karoy Anderson, Deji Elerewe and Mason Burstow all signing long-term contracts.
The South London Press understands that they have been able to thrash out a decent deal for Beadle that will see significant sums head their way if the young shotstopper realises his potential – including a cut of any future transfer fee.
Beadle, a Charlton fan, had been with the club for nine years. He has been selected by England at U18 and U15 level.
