Charlton Athletic boss Bowyer: We’re not getting answers on deal for Brighton striker

Charlton Athletic are still waiting to hear if their deal for Tomer Hemed will be allowed to go through – with the Brighton striker in daily contact with the SE7 outfit.

The Addicks made a deadline day move for the Albion striker and believe they pushed it through just before the cut-off.

But a week later and there has been no answer on Hemed’s future.

When asked why there had been such a long delay, Bowyer told the South London Press: “I don’t know why it has taken so long.

“The only thing I can think is maybe they are dealing with the problems at Bury and Bolton. That’s the only thing I can think of as to why they haven’t come back to us – which is wrong because it is the boy’s career.

“At the moment he is contacting Steve Gallen [head of recruitment] every day, two or three times a day, asking what is going on. We can’t give him answers because we aren’t getting any answers.

“Parksey [Chris Parkes, club secretary] and Steve are dealing with it.

“We think we’ve done it correctly. But if their focus is on other things it is wrong – it doesn’t take that long. Now it has been a week. It shouldn’t take a week to say yes or not.

“Even if they say no then we’re going to appeal it. So just get the process going. If they say no then say no and we go to an appeal.

“It suits everybody to do the right thing.

“The kid wants to come here, we want him here and Brighton want him here. It just doesn’t make any sense.”

  • Very unprofessional and totally lacking in simple common courtesy for the FA or EFL not to at the very least have given Charlton a ‘holding’ reply (.as far as one can tell).

It is now a week (almost) since the Window closed. Just not good enough. A real failure if they can’t make a decision in the time that has elapsed. Pathetic.

Perhaps whichever organisation is responsible is simply not competent to do the job or be tasked with the responsibility.
Since that appears to be the case fire the people responsible or close the body down.
