Charlton Athletic boss confident Palace prospect Rak-Sakyi will stay for loan duration
Ben Garner is confident that Crystal Palace will not recall Jes Rak-Sakyi in the January transfer window, writes Richard Cawley.
The 19-year-old winger scored on his debut as the Addicks beat Plymouth 5-1 on Tuesday.
The risk is that Rak-Sakyi shines so brightly for Charlton that his parent club cut his stay short, potentially with the view of testing him in the Championship.
“Usually with loans there is a window [to recall] in January,” said Garner. “My understanding is that he’ll be with us for the season.
“If a player is doing well – scoring goals and having an impact – why would you look at changing it and moving it? There’s more to come, for sure. He’s young and only going to understand the game more and his fitness levels will improve.
“Nothing seems to faze him. He’s a very laid-back guy but he’s got that steely self-confidence where he really backs himself and his ability.”
