Charlton Athletic boss provides positive update on injured players

Charlton boss Ben Garner is expecting nearly all of his injured players back within the next fortnight.

The Addicks head to Bolton Wanderers today.

Steven Sessegnon, Mandela Egbo, Chuks Aneke, Conor McGrandles and Corey Blackett-Taylor have all been missing due to injury. Ryan Inniss came off in last weekend’s 1-1 draw at Wycombe Wanderers.

Garner told the South London Press: “The majority of the players we have out will be back within the next two weeks.

“There is probably one that will be a little bit longer, but the rest should all be back, certainly training, in the next couple of weeks.

“We haven’t had any what I would call really serious injuries and we’ve been unlucky. The majority have been impact injuries – concussion, a fractured hand, a knee ligament injury from a bad tackle in pre season.

“Corey’s knee injury against Cambridge is an impact injury, we can’t do anything about those.

“If we can get them back in and minimise the soft tissue injuries then that will help us massively.

“Ryan won’t be long. He came out on the grass on Thursday for the first time. I don’t see that being a long time at all, he shouldn’t miss too much football.

“He’s in a good place. It was a little nick at the bottom of his calf but it’s a good area, if you like, that we weren’t too worried about.”
