Charlton Athletic complete loan deal for Birmingham midfielder David Davis
BY RICHARD CAWLEY
Charlton have rounded off their January transfer dealings with the loan signing of Birmingham’s David Davis.
The 28-year-old midfielder has signed on loan for the Addicks.
It means the South London club have six temporary deals – with only five loanees allowed in a matchday squad.
Davis is an experienced campaigner at Championship level with 210 games at that level under his belt.
He has played 194 matches for Birmingham and 61 for Wolves, where he came through the academy.
Davis has made 13 starts this season but has not played more than 11 minutes of league football for the Blues since late October.
Davis and Matt Smith, snapped up on loan from Manchester City earlier this evening, are not eligible to feature in tomorrow;s Championship home game against Barnsley.
Nice to see our new owners ESI have splashed out the cash in the January transfer window not !! , and what a joke in signing 6 loanees during the January transfer window and I really think they know what they are doing and it’s no different to When Duchatelte was our shit owner either ….😤
With all due respect Cliff, I think you’re wrong. It would be so easy to splash money about immediately there is a takeover. Many clubs have tried this and tried to buy success to no avail. Careful, careful catchee monkey is the way to go about re-building a club that has been starved of funds for quite a few years. Taking in young and older players with experience is the foundation for success in the long run. The club has had years of scratching about under Duchatelet and overnight success is impossible.
