Charlton Athletic have SEVENTEEN players out injured – with Ricky Holmes a doubt for Wigan Athletic game
Ricky Holmes is back on the injured list for Charlton Athletic – with 17 players in total ruled out for the injury-ravaged League One club.
The South London Press has been told that Holmes, who captained the Addicks in their 3-1 loss at Southend United on Boxing Day, is a fitness doubt. He had only just returned from a quad strain.
Other first-team players out are Billy Clarke, Lewis Page, Tariqe Fosu, Jake Forster-Caskey, Chris Solly, Jason Pearce, Patrick Bauer, Leon Best and Mark Marshall.
Charlton boss Karl Robinson only named six substitutes at Roots Hall but even striker Josh Umerah – recalled from his loan spell at Wycombe Wanderers – has a knock. And the other under-23 players also unavailable due to injury include Louis Yamfam, Kenneth Yao, Taylor Maloney, Mikhail Kennedy, Archie Edwards and Regan Charles-Cook.
It only adds to the urgency for the Addicks to move quickly when the transfer window opens at the start of next week.
The South London side have gone from being in the automatic promotion shake-up to dropping as low as ninth since they have been without a host of big-hitters.
How many players are in the total squad and what happens if they cannot field 11 fit players. What do the league rules say about teams who cannot field 11 fit players. Are there any other clubs in a similiar positio
