Charlton Athletic set for double striker swoop

Ipswich’s Freddie Ladapo and Port Vale’s Uche Ikpeazu are both having medicals with Charlton Athletic ahead of a double transfer swoop.

The Addicks were in the market for a striker with boss Michael Appleton looking to switch to a formation with two forwards.

Ex-Crystal Palace forward Lapado, who is set to join the Addicks on a loan deal, has featured 22 times for Ipswich this season in all competitions.

The 30-year-old has played 201 times in League One during his career, scoring 66 times and recording 11 assists.

Charlton are also advancing in a deal to sign Port Vale striker Ikpeazu.

The 28-year-old has 20 goal contributions – 12 goals and eight assists in 83 League One appearances.

Appleton’s side agreed a deal with Peterborough forward Jonson Clarke-Harris earlier in the window, but our paper understands the 29-year-old is set to see out his deal with Posh and assess his option in the summer.

Charlton also bid for Will Goodwin from Cheltenham earlier in the week, but the 21-year-old looks now set to join League One rivals Oxford.
