Lee Bowyer says he will resume contract talks with Anfernee Dijksteel once Charlton Athletic’s season is over.

The Dutchman has grown in stature playing at right-back this season.

Dijksteel has had a continued run in recent weeks with Chris Solly suspended until the return leg of the play-off semi-final against Doncaster Rovers.

Bowyer – when asked recently by the South London Press about discussions with the 22-year-old  – said: “He hasn’t signed yet. I thought it would be done by now if I’m honest.

“But that’s something we will pick up after the end of the season.

“He’s still got a year left. We just thought he had done well, so we’ll reward him with a new deal.”
