Charlton midfielder Joe Aribo agrees to Rangers move
BY RICHARD CAWLEY
Charlton Athletic star Joe Aribo has agreed to join Rangers.
The midfielder is out of contract at the end of this month and the South London Press has been told he will sign a four-year contract with the SPL giants.
It also means that the Addicks will get minimal compensation as Aribo has moved outside of England.
Because he is under the age of 24 there will be some money paid, but only a fraction of what would have headed the Championship side’s way if he had stayed in England.
It is sad the lack of loyalty these days.
It seems that it is only about money.
Of course it is about the Money it is called professional football, if the club could have got quite a few million for him they would not hesitate to sell him, he has probably increased his wages 3/4 times at least and will be playing in front of an average crowd of around 47000 not 8/10000 so if a rival firm offered you 4 times your wages you would refuse it because you like it where you are.
I suppose when RD cancelled the contract extension earlier last season, the writing was on the wall for Joe Aribo. But whilst I understand he wants to taste a higher standard of football, I totally agree with Lee Bowyers comments about gaining more experience at Championship level for a season and then think about moving on. After all, Lee has the experience of being in that position himself. Unfortunately, at Joe’s age, money seems to talk, so it is no surprise that if he cannot get it at Charlton – like Bauer – he will move elsewhere. In my opinion, the wrong move and a shame to lose his services. Another feather in the cap for RD.!!
What a shame, losing Bauer and now Aribo it deems. Worst, to Preson and Rangers.
Preston will be no better that is I feel and Rangers are a poor side in a second rate league. They have signed nobodies and will finish second again at best.
However, good luck to both players and their respective new teams.
Let’s hope we cal get a great new owner soon and have a great season again under LB.
Rangers are a far bigger club mate than many English teams don’t comment on what you don’t understand about joe Aribo will make himself at Rangers just like Paul Gascgoine did he choose the most successful club in Europe and relished every minute he played in that gersey
