Crystal Palace agree deal for former Sunderland and Bolton keeper Remi Matthews

Crystal Palace have agreed a deal to sign goalkeeper Remi Matthews.

The 27-year-old is a free agent after leaving Sunderland this summer.

Matthews will be third-choice stopper at the Premier League club, behind Vicente Guaita and Jack Butland.

The Eagles had previously mulled over a move for Matthews before they opted to sign Stephen Henderson in July 2019.

Both Henderson and Wayne Hennessey have left Palace after their contracts expired.

Matthews made five appearances for the Black Cats last season. In total he has clocked up 136 appearances in his career. He has also been on the books of Bolton Wanderers and Norwich City.
