Crystal Palace handed goalkeeper injury boost ahead of Leicester City clash
Crystal Palace are hopeful they should have a senior goalkeeper available for their Premier League clash at home to Leicester City on Saturday.
The South London Press understands that Vicente Guaita, who has been missing since the 1-0 defeat to Manchester City with a hamstring injury, returned to training this week.
The 36-year-old keeper had made 27 appearances in all competitions this season.
Joe Whitworth, 19, was handed his club and Premier League debut in Guaita’s absence, starting the games away to Brighton and Arsenal.
Sam Johnstone is also expected back at some stage this week after recovering from a calf injury which has kept him sidelined since the 1-1 draw with Brighton in February.
Roy Hodgson will take charge of the Eagles for the first time since being announced as Patrick Vieira’s replacement until the end of the season.
The South Londoners are two points ahead of Brendan Rodgers’ side, who sit 17th in the Premier League table.
Palace are the only side in the top four divisions without a win in 2023.
