Crystal Palace ready to loan out England U20 international
Crystal Palace are looking to loan out young goalkeeper Owen Goodman.
The 19-year-old made 20 appearances for the Eagles in Premier League 2 this season.
Goodman was set to be part of the England squad for the U20 World Cup in Argentina – after being selected as a standby – but instead chose to feature for his club in the PL International Cup final against PSV at Selhurst Park at the end of last month.
He signed a contract extension with the South London club in November 2022.
Goodman has been on Palace’s books since U13 level and he was part of the U15 side which won the Floodlit Cup in 2019.
“He’s one of the most exciting young goalkeepers we’ve had here in my time at the football club,” said academy director Gary Issott when Goodman last put pen to paper.
“The fact that he’s now committed his long-term future here is great news and it shows how committed the owners and the club are to getting and retaining the best young talent.”
Former Charlton stopper James Beadle, now on Brighton’s books, was selected by England U20 head coach Ian Foster.
