Crystal Palace’s Eberechi Eze selected by England for Euro 2024 qualifiers

Crystal Palace midfielder Eberechi Eze has been called up to the England squad for their Euro 2024 qualifiers next month.

It is the first time that the South Londoner, born in Greenwich, has been selected at senior level by the Three Lions.

Eze, 24, has been in sparkling form for the Eagles since Roy Hodgson replaced Patrick Vieira as manager.

England play Malta and North Macedonia.

Palace’s Marc Guehi and Sam Johnstone are also in Gareth Southgate’s squad.

Eze was set to be named in England’s provisional squad for the last European Championships but ruptured his Achilles in training.

The former Millwall youngster has scored 10 goals and collected four assists in the current campaign.

The return of Hodgson has been crucial to an upturn in form after Eze struggled to hold down a starting spot this season before Vieira’s dismissal.

Eze produced the assist for Odsonne Edouard’s goal at Fulham last weekend and scored a brace for Palace in their 2-0 victory over Bournemouth in the fixture before that.

He has made 92 appearances for the South Londoners since signing from QPR in August 2020.
