Dons head coach Mark Robinson provides update on his search for an assistant

BY DANIEL MARSH

Mark Robinson has revealed that his search for an assistant head coach has been a challenge – and hinted that the club may have to wait until the season is done to secure their preferred candidate.

He has brought in mindset mentor Steve Sallis and set-piece coach Andy Parslow since his permanent appointment last week. Rob Tuvey has been moved to first-team coach and loans manager. Tuvey has been on the touchline alongside Robinson in recent weeks.

England U17 head xoach Justin Cochrane is one of the people who has been lending support to Robinson. He was at Plough Lane on Tuesday night as the Dons edged to a 1-0 victory over Gillingham.

But Cochrane is not set to be a permanent fixture in the backroom team. Robinson explained: “It’s difficult at this time of the season. There were a couple of people I had in mind, but they’re both in work because they’re quality candidates.

“What Joe [Palmer, CEO] and I have spoken about is bringing quality in, so we’ve done it a little bit differently at the moment. We’re bringing quality people in to support me, I’ve already done that with a couple of staff that are coming in full-time.

“But in terms of the assistant at the moment, we’re just bringing in quality support. That’s what I’ve had tonight and for a couple of days this week.

“I’m happy with what I’ve got and I’m getting the support from the club, which is good.”
