Dulwich boss given ‘green light’ to sign reinforcements before transfer deadline

Dulwich Hamlet boss Hakan Hayrettin has confirmed he has been given the “green light” to sign reinforcements before Thursday’s transfer deadline day.

The opportunity for clubs in the National League pyramid to register new players for the rest of the season slams shut on Thursday.

Dulwich are a point above the relegation zone in the National League South but have claimed victories against play-off-chasing Havant & Waterlooville and St Albans City under Hayrettin during his short stint at Champion Hill so far.

“This week is vitally important for me,” the former Maidstone and Braintree Town boss told the South London Press.

“I need to look at bringing players in. I have been given the green light to do that – we need to strengthen.

“Jordan Cheadle has gone back to Dorking. We have had a situation with Jack Holland where he pulled out at the last minute against Ebbsfleet because he had an issue with his groin.

“Michael Phillips wasn’t quite right to play. We didn’t want to take the chance on him because we have got eight games.

“Dan Smith is still injured. Will Wood is injured too.

“So I have been given the ok to bring players in, and I will be doing that this week before the deadline to make sure we give ourselves the best opportunity we can to compete at this level next season.

“If we do that, you will see a different Dulwich altogether. The main priority is to make sure we preserve our status.”
