EFL set to meet Charlton Athletic supporters’ groups to hear concerns over running of the football club

The EFL will be meeting with representatives of Charlton Athletic Supporters’ Trust and Coalition Against Roland Duchatelet – with the aim being for fans to raise their concerns and issues surrounding the club.

The South London Press understands that the discussions were already put in place before Saturday’s protest at The Valley.

Dialogue between the EFL and both groups had been taking place for a period of time but will now take more of a structured dialogue.

A recent meeting between the EFL and the Football Supporters’ Association also included representatives from Charlton Athletic – where it was confirmed that the governing body would be meeting fans’ groups.

The Addicks have been under a transfer embargo since the start of 2020 since the EFL did not approve East Street Investments’ ‘takeover’ of the football club.

Supporters gathered in SE7 at the weekend to protest at the running of the club, who were relegated to League One at the end of July.

ESI are in talks with Danish businessman Thomas Sandgaard, who wants to buy Charlton Athletic.

But Paul Elliott is seeking a court injunction to block ESI selling to anyone else – claiming he has a deal in place. But Elliott is yet to pass the EFL’s Owners’ and Directors’ Test – although he has appealed the original decision to reject him.
