Exclusive: Anthony Hayes to be appointed full-time to Charlton’s senior coaching set up
Anthony Hayes is set to be confirmed shortly as part of Charlton Athletic’s first-team coaching set up on a full-time basis.
The Irishman stepped up to senior level this summer after Ben Garner’s appointment as manager.
Garner brought in Scott Marshall as assistant first-team coach from Swindon Town shortly after his own switch to SE7.
Jason Euell, who had been on Johnnie Jackson’s coaching team, was then let go by Charlton and quickly took on a role at Bristol City.
Hayes has been at Charlton for more than six years, joining from Brentford in July 2018.
He was appointed senior professional development lead coach in June 2021.
Garner told the South London Press: “Anthony has been fantastic. I was looking to bring another coach in. I was advised to look at what is at the club and have a good look at Anthony.
“He will be stepping up with us full time. I really like his character and how he sees the game. He’s a fantastic coach which is what we want.
“He’s just in the process of agreeing a contract and then, all being well, he’ll get that done and be with us full time.”
