Ben Thompson is set to sign a new long-term contract at Millwall.
The Lions made securing the 23-year-old midfielder on improved terms a priority as he produced a succession of eye-catching displays in the final months of the Championship season.
Thompson was a huge hit on loan at Portsmouth in the first half of the campaign.
Millwall boss Neil Harris recalled Thompson at the start of January and almost instantly handed him a starting berth.
The Lions youth product went on to score four goals in 13 Championship matches – thriving in a role just behind striker Lee Gregory.
Thompson netted both in a 2-0 victory at Birmingham City in mid-March and also got on the scoresheet against Preston at The Den as well as bagging the opener at Leeds United.
If he continues to develop as rapidly next season then interest will grow from rivals, but Millwall have acted swiftly to reward his impressive performances.
