Giant ice sculpture erected as part of campaign against climate change
A giant ice sculpture of Sir David Attenborough has been erected on the South Bank riverside as part of a new campaign against climate change.
The sculpture was commissioned by energy drink company TENZING as part of its ‘Take Action’ campaign, inspired by David Attenborough’s Instagram plea, where he said: “Saving our planet is now a communications challenge.”
The artwork represents the amount of Arctic Sea ice that is melted by the average UK citizen’s carbon emissions per fortnight.
Founder of TENZING, Huib van Bockel, said: “Every individual has the ability to make a difference and the cool thing is, if we all take responsibility, the impact will be huge.
“In our case, this means offsetting more carbon than we emit while making our community carbon neutral, too.”
The Take Action campaign provides people with a personalised carbon footprint calculator to help individuals reduce their own carbon footprint, as well as marking their commitment to becoming the world’s first negative energy drinks brand.
