Harvey Kedwell – son of former AFC Wimbledon striker Danny – pens first Charlton pro deal

Harvey Kedwell has penned his first professional contract with Charlton Athletic.

The midfielder joined the Addicks at U8 level.

He helped the U18s win the Professional Development League 2 South title last season.

Kedwell also scored for the U21s in the London Senior Cup final.

He is the son of former AFC Wimbledon forward Danny Kedwell, who scored the penalty which saw the Dons win promotion to the Football League in 2011.

After putting pen-to-paper with Charlton, Kedwell said: “It’s obviously a very happy moment for me and my family. It’s something that I’ve worked hard towards all my life.

“I now want to make my first team debut but I know I’ll have to work hard to get in there as there’s a lot of good players. That’s the biggest thing that I want to achieve next season.”

Academy director Steve Avory added: “Harvey has come through the schoolboy years with us, deservedly got his scholarship and has since had a very good two years as a scholar.

“We’ve been delighted with his contributions, whether it be as a defensive midfield player or even as an attacking midfield player where I feel he’s really developed in this last season.

“He’s a very competitive individual, in the right way, who plays the game with great desire. He fully deserves that professional contract having also made his mark in U21s football last season.”
