Joe & the Juice Covent Garden ranked zero hygiene rating

A juice bar in Central London has been slapped with a ‘zero’ food hygiene rating following its latest inspection.

An inspection of the Covent Garden Joe& the Juice bar in June raised serious health and safety concerns which temporarily stopped trade.

The Garrick Street bar was given a mark of zero out of a possible five after it was examined for ‘hygienic food handling’, which was flagged in the report as requiring improvement.

It also noted ‘urgent’ improvement was needed against the categories of ‘cleanliness and condition of facilities and building’, as well as ‘management of food safety’.

Joe & the Juice has since resumed operations following the inspection in June, with the Danish company assuring customers that it has rectified the recorded issues.

Mark Lorentzen, Joe and The Juice’s head of operations in the UK, said: “We value our cooperation with the Environmental Health Officers, and following their inspection of our store at 5 Garrick Street, we took immediate action to thoroughly rectify the issues noted.”
