Lee Bowyer: Fulham have the best squad in the Championship – but my Charlton side will cause them problems
BY RICHARD CAWLEY
Lee Bowyer says his Charlton Athletic side will cause problems for Fulham in Saturday’s derby at Craven Cottage – but reckons the hosts have the strongest squad in the Championship.
That depth could play a big part, especially with the Addicks having 24 hours less to prepare and recover for the fixture in west London.
Fulham won 4-1 at Reading on Tuesday, with Charlton defeated 2-1 at home to Swansea tonight.
The results leave the Addicks eighth in the league standings.
Fulham are managed by former Charlton midfielder Scott Parker.
Bowyer said: “As a player that’s what you want to do – you want to play against the best teams.
“Fulham are a very good team. I watched them last night at Reading. They were excellent.
“They have got the best squad in the division. It’s going to be a tough game for our boys.
“Scottie’s job is to get promotion – ours is to stay in the league. You’re talking about two different scales.
“I know one thing – my players are going to go there and give 100 per cent and we will cause them problems and create chances.
“It’s 50-50 who is going to win.”
