LibDems claim Liz Truss is just a ‘continuity Boris Johnson’

Liberal Democrat parliamentary candidate for Wimbledon, Councillor Paul Kohler, has labelled the new Prime Minister Liz Truss “continuity Boris Johnson”, and criticised the new PM for failing to act on the energy crisis and voting to let water companies pump raw sewage into our rivers.

Cllr Kohler was 628 votes behind the sitting Conservative MP Stephen Hammond at the general election.

Cllr Paul Kohler, said: “Liz Truss and the Conservatives have spent months failing to act on soaring energy bills, leaving residents in despair and small businesses going to the wall.

“The Tories have shown they are completely out of touch with people in Wimbledon. It is time they listened to Liberal Democrat calls to freeze energy bills to save families and pensioners from an economic catastrophe.

“Liz Truss is a Boris Johnson loyalist who voted to allow water companies to pump raw sewage into rivers like the Wandle, and who as Environment Minister slashed departmental funding for monitoring and preventing sewage discharge.

“People across Wimbledon tell me they are sick and tired of this government which simply doesn’t represent them and takes them for granted. At the next election, voters will face the choice between five more years of chaos and crisis under the Conservatives, or a hard-working local Liberal Democrat MP.”
