Charity ScotsCare providing sheltered housing for Scots in London

The charity for Scots in London, ScotsCare, provides Scots over 55, or 50 living with a disability, high quality sheltered housing at 3 locations across the capital, (Lewisham, Barnet and Wimbledon).

Offering support at a stage in life when it could be most needed, the charity caters for both first and second generation Scots; meaning a lifelong Londoner with a Scottish parent would be eligible for their own flat in one of their sheltered housing properties.

Someone married to a first generation Scot, or the widow, widower or surviving member of a civil partnership of a person born in Scotland is also eligible.

The charity currently has a number of vacancies available at its Rothesay Court property in Lewisham, south east London, where residents enjoy a program of social events, such as the recent Easter and Jubilee celebrations, organised by the part-time onsite support worker, available to assist residents with any other kinds of issues they may have.

Although residents regularly gather to spend time together, the flats are self contained, giving residents their own safe and secure space.

The flats are linked by heated corridors to lifts, a communal lounge, laundry facilities and spacious garden.

The properties are kept to a high standard (pictured) with an ongoing improvement plan in place.

“I think it’s worth making the move. To me ScotsCare have done a brilliant job.” – Robert, Sheltered Housing Resident

The charity has been supporting Scots for over 400 years, not just with sheltered housing but with a range of other services, including financial grants, advocacy and mental health support, to name but a few.

This wider charity is in place to support residents at all of the properties including a dedicated Property Manager, Housing Officer and Housing Support Workers.

Rents are set at reasonable market rates, with residents that receive benefits such as housing allowance more than welcome.

If you are Scottish and over 55 or know someone that is, you can contact ScotsCare to apply for a sheltered housing flat on 0800 652 2989 or email dutyworker@scotscare.com
