Animation, art and writing workshops this easter

Stop-motion animation, poetry, science and storytelling workshops are all part of a special Easter programme at the London Transport Museum (LTM) over the coming months.

Families visiting the  LTM in Covent Garden over the holidays can  find out about the transport innovations that have changed London through history, and uncover the important role plants can play in helping to create a happy, healthy capital city of the future.

Starting later this month, on March 29, the LTM will host drop-in creative writing workshops for children aged between seven and 11 years old.

Until April 14, these sessions will teach aspiring writers and their families tips and tricks for writing poetry and prose.

Next up, Art and science workshops will run from April 2 to 11, where children will get the chance to dig into the science of plant life with hands-on activities. Visitors will get familiar with microscopes, learn how plants can help combat the climate emergency and create their own special artwork to take home.

The only workshop of the series that requires a booking is a full-day of stop-motion animation. These sessions will run from April 4, to 11, and will take children and young people aged 12 to 16 through the basics of animation.

From developing a concept from an idea, to storyboarding frames and trialling animation techniques, visitors will put these new skills into practice to create their very own stop-motion short film.

Running alongside these workshops, a museum tour will offer families the chance to discover the history of London Transport Museum and the beautiful Grade II listed building – formerly the historic Covent Garden Flower Market – it calls home.

This tour will guide visitors through the transport innovations that have transformed London and its landscape.

All Easter family activities, with the exception of the animation workshop, are included with general admission to the Museum, and children under 18 go free.

Separate booking is required for the animation workshop via: ltmuseum.co.uk/whats-on/family-events/easter-holidays-plants-and-poems#workshop
