Art-punk band Scrounge’s release of new single is start of a new phase
An emerging art-punk band is a lot more exciting than the name of their new single Corner Cutting Boredom sounds.
Emerging out of the South London DIY scene, Scrounge have spent time boiling down their brand into a mix of sharp art-punk with folk, techno and industrial music.
They have just released their new single Corner Cutting Boredom, which the band say is the start of a new phase for them.
Since meeting at Goldsmiths University, Scrounge – Lucy Alexander on vocals and guitar and Luke Cartledge on drums, vocals and electronics have been expressing how it feels to be a young person living and working in a fast-changing metropolis.
Their work captures the reality of balancing the pressure of making rent and staying healthy with a desire to make art and engage with the communities that make London what it is.
With an array of work under their belt, including debut singles, Etch and Crimson, and EP, Ideal, Scrounge released their debut mini-album, Sugar, Daddy in 2022 .
This was followed by a short UK headline tour, festival appearances, and in early 2023 a 10-date UK tour supporting noise-punk group Benefits before a run of dates in Italy.
Scrounge’s new single is out now, available as a digital download, as well as a limited edition Zine and Flexi Disc.
