Book Reviews: Robyn’s Lonely Mouse by Nanny P
Hello South London Book Lovers,
As promised, over the next few weeks I will be reviewing a few illustrated children’s books by a little-known author called Nanny P.
So, let me give you a little background information on Nanny P.
She has been an Ofsted registered nanny since 2009, she has worked for some amazing families all over London and her love of children is very apparent in her books.
Every book has a theme, and all the main characters are animals.
You will find that every book is completely different to the last book published.
She has three truly talented illustrators working alongside her and you can buy all her books on Amazon, in paperback, starting at £4.99.
Her first published book is Robyn’s Lonely Mouse, available from Amazon in paperback for £8.99, illustrated by Alexandra Unger.
During Covid, Nanny P was still working with a couple of families, and one of these families had two little mice, so they didn’t get lonely.
The idea grew into a sweet story and, when an illustrator needed to be found, along came Alexander and a beautiful working relationship developed.
So, what is this story about? Loneliness. Especially during Covid.
Nanny P quickly noticed the parks, libraries, playgroups, leisure centres, just to mention a few places where children normally meet up to play, were empty, and a whole generation of children became enclosed in their own little bubbles.
Like every other creature in this world, we all need to interact, or we become isolated, lonely, sad, depressed.
So, this lovely little book tells the story of a mouse that lives in a cage in Robyn’s room, but it is so lonely and, because it’s a mouse, it needs to find a way to communicate with Robyn.
Thankfully Robyn works it out and there is a very happy ending.
Nanny P has a way with her stories that is loved by all the children and parents that buy the books – you only have to check out the reviews to see this for yourselves.
They are perfect books for all ages for any time of the year.
