Brixton’s Ritzy cinema hosts Halloween special with a twist
Brixton’s iconic Ritzy cinema is hosting a frightful day to night programme of cinema and live music this Halloween.
Brixton Chamber Orchestra (BCO) will return for their third Ritzy Cinema residency on October 30, for its Film Orchestrated: Halloween event.
Experience the iconic silent film Nosferatu (1922), the first ever adaptation of Bram Stoker’s Dracula, with Hans Erdmann’s original soundtrack.
This masterpiece of horror will come to life with a live 16-piece orchestra, performing the film’s chilling score and sound effects in real time.
In recent years, a restored version of Nosferatu has been released, bringing the film back to its original glory. It is this hauntingly sharp version that will be screened at the Ritzy for the event.
There will also be a newly commissioned horror short by Brixton based film-makers Alfred Wales and Noah Kean, complete with an semi-improvised soundtrack by the BCO.
As a special treat to calm the nerves, every ticket will come with a free Brixton Brewery beer.
As well as the adults show, at 8pm, there will be a children’s matinee at 2.30pm – perfect for the half-term break.
The afternoon will feature an audience sing-along and plenty of Halloween fun.
